Lal Majid opened her first chocolate and flower shop in the city of Karachi to share both her love of chocolate and her passion for presentation. She followed this by opening two outlets in Lahore and has plans to further expand her network of chocolate boutiques to other cities in Pakistan. Her latest venture is the opening of Lals Patisserie in Karachi, a multi storey flagship store that offers dine in facilities and serves an array of sweet and savory products. Following a philosophy of celebrating life and its beauty, Lal is determined to lead a confectionery renaissance and hopes that her pursuit of sweet perfection will be an inspiration to both chocolate artisans and aficionados. Ms. Tai is the CEO of Lals Chocolates, a fast-growing luxury chocolate company in Pakistan. She launched the company in 2006 and has managed and led its growth since inception. Ms. Tai graduated with a Joint Honours in Political Science and International Development from McGill University, and spent a year as a visiting undergraduate student at Harvard University. She is also the VP Schools for the Harvard Club of Pakistan. Ms Tai has a penchant for entrepreneurship and is passionate about social issues and is managing an adult literacy program for uneducated domestic and office staff. She has won numerous awards such as the Nesvita Women of Strength Entrepreneurship Award, and the Ladiesfund 2010 Trailblazer of the Year Award. Most recently she was selected for the prestigious Fortune/State Department Global Mentoring partnership and invited to attend the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit 2011.
